- Applications
- Can I use the timer or routine functions in Google Home or Amazon Alexa with my devices?
Yes, you can setup in Google Home or Amazon Alexa.
1. Find 'Routine' button in Google home app or Amazon Alexa app.
2. Setup the routine action via selecting SMART DEVICE and then selecting KASTA devices. - Is there a time delay between the detection of scene triggers and the specified action occurring?
There maybe a slight delay depending on the size of your house and number of devices on the network.
- Can I use a KASTA Smart Powerpoint to turn my TV on/off?
Yes, plug the TV into one of the sockets and control via App, Remote Switch and onboard control. Voice control and remote access is achievable with a KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect gateway.
- Can I use a KASTA Smart Powerpoint to control a non-smart lamp?
Yes, so long as the lamp switch remains switched on.
- Can I use smart downlights / lighting and smart switches together?
You can use a KASTA Remote Switch to control a KASTA Smart Downlight. A KASTA Dimmer or Relay device is not required to control a KASTA Smart Downlight.
- Can I integrate KASTA with my CBUS®, Dynalite®, and Control4® System?
Yes, using a KASTA Plexy gateway you can integrate to a Control4, RTI, Crestron or Kramer home system.
- Does KASTA work with air conditioning systems?
KASTA can be used to turn on/off the power to the AC system using a KASTA-S2400IBH Relay module or KASTA-S10IBH Dry Contact module.
- Does KASTA have a public API/SDK to integrate with?
Yes, KASTA API stage 1 is available. Contact KASTA support for more details.
- What types of fans can I control with KASTA?
KASTA-FC150A Fan Controller can be used to control AC Fans. See the Knowledge section on the KASTA website for a full compatibility list.
- Does KASTA work with Heated Towel Rails?
Yes, a KASTA-S2400IBH hidden relay module or KASTA-S10IBH dry contact modulecan be used to control a heated towel rail.
- Does KASTA work with Somfy motorised blinds or curtains?
Yes, KASTA works with Somfy motorised blinds or curtains. Please refer to product specific information in the Knowledge Base section of the KASTA website for full compatibility list.
- In the KASTA app, there is a group control function. Do all the grouped KASTA products have to be installed in the same electrical circuit?
No, you can install KASTA devices on different electrical circuits and then setup a group in the KASTA App to include the devices you want to have.
- Can we "turn off" the dimming function of a KASTA dimmer, change it into a "switch", and use with non-dimmable fittings?
No, currently this isn't achievable with KASTA.
- Can KASTA control a 0/1-10V dimmable highbay using two-way or multiway dimming circuits?
Yes, this is achievable with KASTA 0-10V dimmer and remote switches.
- Can a KASTA switch turn ON/OFF a contactor (relay) to control super large loads (e.g. 3000W) like a house heater, or swimming pool fan?
Yes, it is possible to switch the contactor using a KASTA relay socket, module or mechanism.
- Can I use a KASTA switch with a sensor
Yes, but you need a KASTA-5RSIBH input module in between.
- Are KASTA products compatible with third party controls such as C-Bus?
No, KASTA cannot control C-Bus devices. However, KASTA can work with Control4, RTI, Crestron and Kramer. Visit KASTA website for more integrations.
- After setting "schedule" in KASTA app, what will happen if I turn off my phone, or if I take my phone out? Will the "schedule" keep working?
Once you have setup a schedule, all schedule settings will be stored into the corresponding devices or cloud.
The schedule will run automatically. However, if there is any power outage, the time setting of devices would be cleared, so you have to re-enable schedule in KASTA app. - Will KASTA work with Samsung SmartThings?
No, KASTA does not currently work with Samsung SmartThings.
- I was added to another home in KASTA app and their KASTA devices have been added to my Google Home with my own homes devices. How can I remove them?
1.Select 'Leave Network' 2. In Google Home App, delete KASTA and re-add KASTA.
- Can I control devices on my network when I'm away from home?
Yes, if you have installed a KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect gateway.
- I have lots of KASTA Smart downlights. How can I control them together?
You can create a group in the KASTA App and add the Smart Downlights to this group.
Then you can control this group by KASTA App or pair this group to a KASTA smart switch, so you can use the switch to control this group. - Do I need a hub/bridge/gateway to use KASTA?
KASTA does not require a hub or bridge to operate.
If you want to have remote control outside your house or you want to use voice control, you should add a KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect Gateway into your KASTA mesh network. If you want to control KASTA from another platform such as Control4, Crestron, RTI, you should add a KASTA-PGW Plexy Gateway into your KASTA mesh network. - How does power monitoring work?
KASTA Smart Sockets and Smart Powerpoints have the ability to monitor energy consumption on the connected device.
To access the power consumption summary go to EDIT within the KASTA device page. - Will the mesh network (2.4Ghz) be affected by bandwidth limitations in environments with a significant number of WiFi (2.4Ghz) networks? E.g. Apartments.
No. KASTA mesh network will not be affected.
- For example, in Hotel/Apartment applications do I have any tools for rapid deployment such as templates? Or must I scan, and reprogram 1-by-1 in each room?
There are no mass deployment tools. To efficiently deploy KASTA in multi-residential applications such as apartment buildings or hotels, bench wiring and pre-programming of KASTA devices is the suggested method.
- In dense, multi-mesh network projects, such as Hotels/Apartments, how do you restrict mesh networks in adjoining rooms where a single device could be in range of many mesh networks?
This is simply managed via individual mesh networks with different PINs.
- In multi-residential applications such as apartment buildings or hotels, do I have any tools for rapid deployment such as templates? Or must I scan, reprogram 1-by-1 in each room?

- Can I control an auxiliary device with KASTA?
Yes, you can use a Smart Switch Module (KASTA-S2400IBH) or a Dry Contact Module (KASTA-S10IBH)
- Do KASTA products support remote control if away from home or not near the network?
Yes, the user can install a KASTA Cloud Connect Gateway (KASTA-CCGW) in the same network with other KASTA devices. This will then allow all devices to be remotely controlled via the KASTA app remotely, except the remotes.
- Do KASTA products support voice control?
Yes, currently we support voice control via Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The user needs to install KASTA Cloud Connect Gateway (KASTA-CCGW) before setting up voice control via the KASTA app. Yes, currently we support voice control via Google Home and Amazon Alexa. - Does the timer function within the KASTA app require a KASTA switch or dimmer to operate?
Yes.
- Do KASTA switches only work with Haneco LED lighting products?
No. KASTA switches and dimmers work with a variety of lighting (subject to minimum load).
- Can I use KASTA switch and dimmer mechanisms without Bluetooth control?
Yes, the KASTA range of switches and dimmers will function as a normal device without Bluetooth connectivity.
- Software
- I have a KASTA-CCGW on my KASTA network. I have added additional KASTA items to my KASTA network. I can see the new devices in the KASTA App but I cannot control them. How can I control all my KASTA devices from the App?
After adding the new KASTA devices to the network, turn off the power to the KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect Gateway. Wait 30 seconds and then power on the KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect Gateway. Then wait 2mins, KASTA devices should now be controllable by the KASTA App. - What is AP mode? How do I use AP mode to pair?
AP mode is the default way to add a KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect gateway to the KASTA App.
- Will KASTA operate with Apple Home Kits?
No, currently this isn't achievable with KASTA.
- Can I set the minimum dimming level on a KASTA Dimmer?
You can set up the minimum dimming level with any KASTA smart dimmer.
1. Adjust dimming level to be the minimum level you require through the KASTA App or via onboard switch where available.
2. Press the dimmer four times quickly to set up the minimum dimming level. - Can I control my KASTA devices when not at home or do I need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network?
To control your devices remotely you will need to have a KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect gateway installed onto your KASTA network.
You do not need to be on the same Wi-Fi network to access these remotely. - Can I change when the LED Indicator is on for my KASTA switch?
Yes, you can enable and disable the LED indicator through the device settings in the KASTA App.
- How many administrators can I set in the KASTA App for my home?
There is no limit on the number of Administrators
- How can I change my account in the KASTA App and keep the home I have created?
You can use your new account to scan the QR code of the network or use 'Add Member' to share the network to this new account
- What is the difference between a Common member, an Administrator and the Home owner in the KASTA App?
Only Owners and Admin are allowed to modify the network
- How do I invite a new member to join my KASTA network with their KASTA account?
1. Navigate to Home page by tapping the Home icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen
2. Navigate to Settings page by tapping the Settings icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen
3. Tap 'Network'
4. Tap on current network you are in
5. Tap "+" in the member section - Are there limits in the KASTA App on how many characters can be used for naming devices, scenes, schedules, homes, rooms and members?
Yes, must be less than 20 characters.
- Can I manually sort the devices added on the Device page of the KASTA App?
Yes, you can reorder devices in KASTA App.
- If I replace my iOS smartphone with an Android one, can I still log in to my KASTA account normally?
Yes
- Can I log into the KASTA App and use one account at the same time on multiple smartphones?
Yes
- My phone is taking a long time to pair a device, is this normal?
Pairing time is dependant on the number of devices on a KASTA network and the distance from your phone to the device you are wishing to pair to.
To improve pairing time it is suggested to upload data to the KASTA cloud throughout the process of adding devices.
If adding a KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect gateway to a KASTA network it is suggested to add after all other KASTA devices have been added. - I cannot find 'KASTA' under Skills & Games on my Alexa app.
Ensure it is the Alexa App installed from the Australian App store and upgrade the app if not the latest version. - How many KASTA users can connect to a network at the same time?
You can share your network via 'Add Member' to other KASTA accounts. There is no limit on the number of members.
- What do I do if my KASTA product won’t pair?
1. Check if this switch is still working using 'Find Me' via the KASTA app.
2. Reset the power to the device.
3. Have your phone close to the switch to repeat to do pairing. - Does it matter how close my KASTA product, phone and router are when pairing?
When pairing, please have your phone close to the switch your are trying to pair to.
- Can I pair a product to a new account if it has already been paired to a different KASTA account?
No. You will need to reset the device, and then add this device to the new account.
- Can I use KASTA on multiple phones/tablets?
Yes, there is no limit on the number of phones or tablets where you can login to your KASTA account
- How often will app updates be released?
Every three to four months - Does my phone or tablet need to be connected to my home Wi-Fi to use my KASTA devices through the KASTA app?
You only need to be connected to your home Wi-Fi if you are utilising a KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect Gateway. Otherwise you can control your KASTA network simply through Bluetooth connection.
- What happens in a power failure?
If you don't have a KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect gateway, then the time setting in KASTA devices will be reset after power failure, so a schedule may fail to continue working, but other configurations will remain unchanged. If you have a KASTA-CCGW gateway in your network, then there is no impact.
- What happens if I change routers? (e.g. when upgrading to NBN)
You must reset your KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect gateway and re-add the gateway to the new network.
- Can I use KASTA on a PC or Mac?
Currently KASTA has one App that can operate iOS or Android mobile devices. No desktop version is currently available. - Does KASTA offer software/firmware updates and how do these affect the product? Are there additional costs involved?
Yes, KASTA offers free App updates. For some App updates a firmware update on installed KASTA devices maybe required to access new features. - Can you pair multiple products at once?
You can pair multiple products at once with the H5MSMB Hesperus Multivue remote switch only. For other KASTA remote switches, you have to pair specific buttons one by one.
- How long does it take to pair a product?
Depending on the distance between the KASTA device and the smartphone or tablet running the KASTA App, the pairing process only takes a few seconds.
- Does KASTA offer software/firmware updates and how do these affect the product? Are there additional costs involved?
Yes, KASTA offers free App updates. For some App updates a firmware update on installed KASTA devices maybe required to access new features.
- Can you pair multiple products at once?
You can pair multiple products at once with the H5MSMB Hesperus Multivue remote switch only. For other KASTA remote switches, you have to pair a specific button one by one.

- I’ve lost my phone/tablet. What should I do?
You can still login to your KASTA account on another mobile device.
But for the mesh networks, there are two possibilities:
1. If it is a default local network and you haven't clicked upload data to cloud or generate QR code, the mesh data will be lost.
2. If you have added a KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect gateway to your mesh network or you click upload data, you can retrieve everything on the new mobile device. - How does power monitoring work?

The KASTA app offers both Timers and Schedules. A Timer allows you to turn on or off KASTA devices after a set period.
This can be enabled/disabled through the App. KASTA smart relay devices also feature onboard control to enable/disable timers.
A Schedule allows for automation to occur within a set time.
You need to set up a schedule to turn on/off the device/group/scene and a second schedule to perform the opposite action. - How do I use voice control with Google Assistant?
To use voice control with Google Home
1. Have KASTA gateway connected
2. Tap + on top left corner
3. Select 'set up device'
4. Select 'work with google'
5. Select 'KASTA' - How do I use voice control with Amazon Alexa?
To use voice control with Amazon Alexa
1. Have KASTA-CCGW gateway connected

3. Select 'KASTA' - Can KASTA function without internet access?
No, the KASTA App is cloud-based, therefore the phone must be connected to a 4G network as a minimum in order to program or make modifications to KASTA devices.
However, KASTA devices are Bluetooth based, therefore you can still control KASTA devices with its current settings with any connected KASTA smart switches or the KASTA App. - Does KASTA offer cloud storage?
No, but the majority of settings in KASTA are stored in the cloud automatically.
- How do I log out of the KASTA app?
To log out of the KASTA App:
1. Navigate to the Home page by tapping the Home icon in the top right-hand corner of screen
2. Navigate to the Settings page by tapping the Settings icon in the top right-hand corner of screen
3. Tap the 'sign out' button at the bottom of the list - Is my personal data going to third parties?
Yes, the user’s personal data will be stored in a third-party server with full protection.
- Which version of Bluetooth do we support?
From 4.0 to 5.2
- What is the maximum value of a timer?
23 hours and 59 minutes.
- Is the CCT value presented on the App screen an accurate representation of real world measured CCT? Or is there a stated ± 10%? What is our SDCM value?
±300K . Our CCT tolerance Range is ±300K.
- What are the number of dimming ‘steps’? Granularity?
Ten steps.
- The ‘Flash Mode’ on RGBTW products, is it a user-programmable sequence or a fixed sequence from factory?
Fixed from factory. The "Flash Mode' settings are fixed and cannot be modified.
- Can a Schedule trigger a Scene?
Yes. Schedules can trigger devices, groups and scenes.
- Can we nest/cascade scenes?
No. A scene can only exist alone. This also applies to groups and rooms.
- Do we have a list of supported devices eg. iPhone 8 onwards, Samsung Galaxy S7 onwards?
KASTA works with most mobile devices. The KASTA app supports iOS 9+ and Android 4.0+.
- What is the difference between Pairing and Grouping?
Pairing is adding a device to the mesh network. Grouping is combining multiple devices and having them perform the same function (all lights 40%).
- Where does the programming live for Groups, Scenes, Schedules and Timers?
Programming lives in the devices. After initial setup, the KASTA app is no longer required (unless modifications to settings are required).
- Can a KASTA remote control KASTA dimmers/relays without the App? Can a Smart Remote Switch device control KASTA dimmers/relays without the App?
Yes, but need to add KASTA Smart Remote Switch device and dimmers/relays into the KASTA app firstly. Then pair with them via the app.
- If ‘User A’ creates a function (scenes etc.) can ‘User B’ operate them with their App?
Yes, via the remote sharing function through the app.
- Do names/labels of buttons, groups etc live in the KASTA device or in the App?
Tags/labels such as Group/Scene/Schedule names etc. live within the App only.
- Is there a back-up or restore of a network?
A user can generate a QR code through the KASTA app. This QR code can be scanned to restore the network to that configuration.A user can generate a QR code through the KASTA app. This QR code can be scanned to restore the network.
- Are PINs mesh network specific?
Yes. A PIN restricts access to a mesh network not a method to restrict access to individual rooms etc.
- On the KASTA app, can any user modify the network settings of connected devices?
No. Only the Administrator profile can modify the network and settings of connected devices. The KASTA app has Administrator and Visitor profiles. An Administrator profile allows modification of the network whereas a Visitor can only control what has been programmed.
- On the KASTA app, can you restrict access to rooms/features for other users?
No. All users added to the network can access all programmed devices and features. The KASTA app has Administrator and Visitor profiles. An Administrator profile allows modification of the network whereas a Visitor can only control what has been programmed.
- How do I secure my KASTA mesh network?
Upon creating a mesh network, you are prompted to create a PIN to secure the network.
- How does the pairing work?
1. KASTA App must be used to begin the pairing process.
2. App scans the available KASTA devices.
3. Choose a device to add to the mesh network
4. Interact with the KASTA device to confirm connection to the mesh network
- Push Buttons devices to require 6 presses
- RGBTW devices simply connect without interaction
- Hidden devices connect without interaction - Once a KASTA device is part of a mesh network is it ‘hidden’ from other networks and pairing requests?
Yes. No, it is visible but you are unable to add it to the mesh network.
- How do I pair RGBTW KASTA fittings?
Through the KASTA app only.
- How many networks can be on a single phone or tablet running the KASTA app?
Maximum number of networks on one phone or tablet is ten.
- How do I add a new device to an existing mesh network?
Search for device in the KASTA app. Select device. Add to network. Search for the device in the KASTA app. The select device you wish to add. Add to network.
- Do I create a mesh network using KASTA device button presses or with the KASTA App?
All networks must be created using the KASTA App. This can be done even without any devices.
- How many devices can be on a single KASTA mesh network?
Maximum number of networks on one phone or tablet is ten.
The maximum number of devices in one mesh network is up to 160 devices.
The maximum number of devices in one mesh network when a CCGW is installed is 100 devices. The maximum number of networks on one phone or tablet is 10.
The maximum recommended number of devices in one mesh network is up to 100 devices.
Maximum number of devices in one mesh network when a CCGW is installed is 100 devices. - I have updated my KASTA app, but how do I consent to your new Terms & Conditions?
User needs to consent to the KASTA terms when initially signing up for a KASTA account. They do not need to consent again after further app updates.
- How do I find out what personal data you have on me?
We only save and protect your KASTA account information and KASTA device information. We don't collect any personal data.
- How do I update my KASTA app?
Android users, go to Google Play Store to update to the latest version of KASTA App.
iOS users, go to iOS App Store to download the latest version of KASTA App.
Note: you do not need to uninstall your current KASTA app before updating to the new app. - Why must I enter an email address when I create a network?
A user’s email address is required to receive an activation code and also for account password recovery.
- How do I delete my account?
In order to delete an account, you need to delete the KASTA App and then contact Technical Support by calling (02) 9168 5900 and selecting Option 2 for Technical Support.
- In the KASTA app, there is a group control function. Do all the grouped KASTA products have to be installed in the same electrical circuit?
No. Group functions are possible across multiple electrical circuits provided they are in the same KASTA Bluetooth mesh network.
- In the KASTA app, once a "schedule" is set, can the "schedule" adjust automatically with Australian Daylight Savings times?
Unfortunately, this auto-function is not available as KASTA does not collect any system data or have any internet data communication. You will need to adjust the “schedule”.
- How many times do I need to press the device button on a switch or dimmer to reset it to the factory default setting?
9 x presses in quick succession will reset the device, where a Blue signal LED will be displayed.
- Can I set a timer for activity under an hour?
Yes, you can easily set a custom timer from 1 minute up to 23 hours and 59 minutes.
- Does the timer function within the KASTA app require a KASTA switch or dimmer to operate?
Yes.
- Does the KASTA app have a HELP section?
Yes. This assists users in all navigation requirements of the app. Access the HELP area of the KASTA app by going to the Settings Cog Icon, then selecting “Help” from the Menu options.
- Do KASTA Bluetooth devices operate with Bluetooth mesh?
Yes. KASTA devices use a Bluetooth 5.0 mesh network to operate.
- Do I need to PAIR a two-way switch device to enable operation?
Yes, you must PAIR the switch devices to allow the operation of the two/multi-way switching. See the installation instructions for simple PAIRING instructions.
- Do I need to PAIR a Smart Remote Switch device with another KASTA device to enable operation?
Yes, you must PAIR the Smart Remote Switch device via the KASTA app to the desired device to allow the operation of the multi-way switching. See the installation instructions for simple PAIRING instructions.
- After setting a "schedule" in the KASTA app, what will happen if the electricity is cut off and then comes back on again? Will the "schedule" keep working?For safety in this application, this function will be deactivated until the user relaunches the KASTA app and power is restored. If this is not a practical solution for the application, it is recommended to install a KASTA-CCGW gateway which will allow the “schedule” to save it’s settings even when electricity is cut off.
- After setting a "schedule" in the KASTA app, what will happen if I turn off my phone, or if I take my phone away from the network? Will the "schedule" keep working?
For safety in this application, this function will be deactivated until the user relaunches the KASTA app and power is restored. If this is not a practical solution for the application, it is recommended to install a Cloud Connect Gateway (KASTA-CCGW) which will allow the “schedule” to save it’s settings even when electricity is cut off.
- General
- Can I use smart downlights / lighting and smart switches together?
You can use a KASTA Remote Switch to control a KASTA Smart Downlight. A KASTA Dimmer or Relay device is not required to control a KASTA Smart Downlight.
- I’m using a Telstra Smart Modem and can’t connect to my devices. How can I fix this?
1. Make sure the Wi-Fi connected to is 2.4G.
2. Some internet providers may only provide one channel which is a mix of 2.4G and 5G, this may not work with KASTA. - Should my KASTA device and mobile phone be in the same room as the Wi-Fi router when pairing my devices?
It is preferred to have the mobile phone close to the device you are wising to add to your KASTA network.
It is recommended to place the KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect gateway close to the modem, and do the pairing process near the modem. - Why are my LED Lights flickering?
This maybe for multiple reasons including power supply, ripple injection etc. A Load Bypass Capacitor can be used for low-power loads/lights to avid flickering in some instances.
- In the KASTA app, once "schedule" is set, can the "schedule" adjust with Australia Daylight Saving automatically?
If you have a KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect gateway installed, then the schedule will automatically adjust.
If a gateway isn't installed, you have to re-enable the schedule after your phone's time is updated. - I cannot find any KASTA devices when I use my Android phone. What should I do?
Check if the KASTA network has been uploaded to cloud in iOS device previously. Close the app and add update.
- After setting "schedule" in KASTA app, what will happen if I turn off my phone, or if I take my phone out? Will the "schedule" keep working?
Once you have setup a schedule, all schedule settings will be stored into the corresponding devices or cloud.

- Is KASTA purely for the residential market?
No. KASTA is suited to many applications including residential, commercial, industrial, hotel, aged care, and educational facilities, to name a few.
- Can I purchase and set KASTA up in stages as we see the need?
Yes, KASTA is a modular system with free App updates and ongoing support for exiting products. KASTA devices can be added to existing networks as required.
- I was added to another home in KASTA app and their KASTA devices have been added to my Google Home with my own homes devices. How can I remove them?
1.Select 'Leave Network' 2. In Google Home App, delete KASTA and re-add KASTA.
- If network Internet access is disconnected, will automation created in the KASTA App still execute?
Yes, a programmed schedule will still operate without internet access
- Do I need the Internet to control my devices?
If you are within range of the KASTA network the KASTA App can use Bluetooth connection to control devices.
Internet is only required for remote access or updating of settings. - Can I control devices on my network when I'm away from home?
Yes, if you have installed a KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect gateway.

Unfortunately, your ability to reprogram is lost unless you have done a QR code transfer to another App device - this is the only method of restoration in these circumstances. Unfortunately, this auto-function is not available as KASTA does not collect any system data or have any internet data communication. You will need to adjust the “schedule”.

After adding the new KASTA devices to the network, turn off the power to the KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect Gateway. Wait 30 seconds and then power on the KASTA-CCGW Cloud Connect Gateway. Then wait 2mins, KASTA devices should now be controllable by the KASTA App. - Is there a time delay between the detection of scene triggers and the specified action occurring?
There maybe a slight delay depending on the size of your house and number of devices on the network.
- Should my KASTA device and mobile phone be in the same room as the Wi-Fi router when pairing my devices?
It is preferred to have the mobile phone close to the device you are wising to add to your KASTA network.
