    • What is the response delay from Matter mech to CSR product responding?

At present, this feature is supported only on Alexa.
Response latency is generally under 1 second and may vary based on internet performance and overall network size.

    • What are the user control differences between Android and iOS for the Matter Dimmer, Relay, Remote if any?

User control is the same however interfaces may appear different depending on model and operating system.

  • Network & Installation Requirements
    • Do I need a Thread Border Router to use KASTA Matter devices over Thread?

Yes, a Thread Border Router is required.

    • What are the network requirements for KASTA Matter devices?

No network requirements for KASTA Matter devices. However, the Thread Border Router will require WIFI, I believe they can connect to 2.4ghz/ 5 GHZ or Mixed Wi-Fi channel.

    • Are there any other mobile or tablet devices that can work as a Thread Border Router? (Huawei, Google, Oppo etc.)

Yes, Any iPhone later than 15., Google Pixel 10. Check supplier’s websites for latest devices with Thread Radio support.

    • Can any firmware version of KASTA CSR products work with our CCGW gateway with Amazon Alexa speaker with Thread Border Router to control Matter KASTA and other Matter devices?

      Yes

  • Compatibility & Platform Support
    • Which KASTA devices are compatible with Matter?

KASTA Matter Dimmer (KMDIM400), KASTA Matter Relay (KMREL400) and KASTA Matter Remote (KMREM).

    • Which ecosystems and smart home platforms support KASTA Matter devices?

Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home, and SmartThings.

    • Can KASTA Matter devices be set up with multiple controllers or apps (multi‑admin)?

Yes, Matter was designed to allow you to use a device on multiple smart home platforms simultaneously. This means you can, for example, control a lamp with both Apple HomeKit and Google Home, regardless of which platform the device was originally set up on. To connect the device to an additional platform, use the "Share" function of the platform where the device is already set up. This will generate a setup code that allows you to add the device to another platform without removing it from the existing one. This keeps your smart home flexible and compatible across different manufacturers.

    • Is a Thread Border Router required?

A Thread Border Router is required where app control and the use of KASTA Matter remote devices are required.

    • Can a V1.1 Matter product talk to a Matter V1.4 Matter Product?

Yes, but some features may be limited.

    • When does Google allow control of CSR and Matter products?

Google currently supports local control of CSR and Matter dimmers and relays. However, remote control via Google is not yet available.

At this stage, Google has enabled control for KASTA Bluetooth and Matter devices, but remote access has not been released from the Google side.

  • Basic Concepts & Protocols
    • What is Matter and how does it work?

Matter is an open-source smart home connectivity standard that enables devices from different brands (such as Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home, and SmartThings) to work seamlessly together.

It is built on Internet Protocol (IP) technologies like Wi-Fi and Thread, allowing secure, reliable communication across platforms. As a result, Matter-certified devices from brands such as Aqara, Eve, Nanoleaf, and Kasta can interoperate within the same smart home ecosystem.

    • What is Thread and how does it relate to KASTA Matter devices?

Thread is a modern way for smart devices to connect to each other. It’s like a super-reliable, low-power Wi-Fi specifically designed for smart home devices.
Unlike regular Wi-Fi, Thread is faster, uses less energy, and creates a mesh network. This means devices can communicate directly with each other instead of relying on a single router. Thread enhances smart home ecosystems by providing efficient, secure, and scalable device communication.
