KASTA partners with Unicef and supports them in their mission to improve the lives of those in need.

UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, is the world’s largest children’s charity working to protect vulnerable children, globally and here in Australia. Run entirely on voluntary donations, they work to improve the lives of every vulnerable child, no matter who they are or where they live.

UNICEF Polio Eradication Programme

The impact of KASTA Technologies’ funding in Pakistan

Funding contributed by Kasta Technologies through UNICEF Australia was used to support procurement of oral polio vaccine (OPV). A total 333.18 million doses of OPV were procured during 2021.

KASTA’s support was used for the procurement of 10,400 vials (of 20 doses each), equivalent to 208,000 doses of bivalent oral poliovirus vaccine (bOPV) to be used in August 2021 Sub-National Immunization Day (SNID). Overall, 187,575 children were vaccinated during the campaign with this funding.

In 2021, from January to December, seven SIAs were conducted – four National Immunization Days (NIDs), in January, March, September and December, one case response campaign in October and two Sub-National Immunization Days (SNIDs), in June and August. Overall, 34.93million children were targeted during the December nationwide campaign with a house-to-house coverage of 99.8%.

Pakistan's latest push

This summer tens of thousands of frontline workers are fanning out across all four provinces to vaccinate more than 23 million children. And there is evidence the campaigns are working. As of 29 July, there has only been one case of wild polio reported in 2021, compared with 66 at the same time last year.
